Makes 1 to 2.
By Dennis W. Viau; modified from a recipe in a book.

This simple smoothie is made with only a few ingredients. Where I live, almond butter is easy to find in the local stores. There are ways to make your own, but with the easy availability I choose to purchase it. It adds a slightly nutty and delicious flavor to the smoothie.

Ingredients:

1 cup (160g) frozen blueberries
1 banana, or an equal amount of frozen banana pieces
1½ to 2 cups (350 to 475ml) unsweetened almond milk*
1 tablespoon almond butter

Directions:

Combine all the ingredients, in the order above, in the jar of a high-end blender such as a Vitamix. Start blending at low speed and slowly increase the speed to high. Blend about 40 seconds or until smooth.

If using a conventional blender that might be damaged by ice, allow the frozen pieces to thaw before blending.

*For a more liquid smoothie, use the larger amount of almond milk.
